Mammoth Unbound’s Main Park is serviced by Chair Six, a high-speed quad that takes only two minutes and forty seconds to ride. Just enough time to fire off a handful of questions to the many pros — like Jack Mitrani — who come through during the season.
: What brings you to Mammoth today?
JM: Jack Mitrani: Well, right now Mammoth I would say has the best park and best halfpipe in the country, so why would I be anywhere else is the question.
: How are the snow conditions?
JM: Its insane, you know just chest deep powder! No, this is the least snow I think I’ve ever seen in my entire life, but somehow Mammoth is able to pull off a nice jump and a halfpipe, so they’re making it work for the amount of snow that there isn’t.
: What is your favorite Frends product?
JM: I like the Lights. There’s these new denim Lights, they just wrapped them with denim jeans and you can play and pause and skip songs just by touching your ear so they’re fun to shred with.
: What are you listening to right now on your headphones?
JM: Lets find out, I took ‘em off ya know, out of respect but lets see…I got The Devil Makes Three, “Black Irish,” it’s a bluegrass song.
: What do you have planned for X Games, any top secret tricks?
JM: Yeah that’s why I can’t tell you obviously! I’m here at Mammoth trying to work on some top secret tricks that I can bring to X Games because the level these days, I mean if you don’t have six quadruple corks its like come on now, might as well not even compete, so I’m out here trying to learn some new things for sure.
: If you could wrap up your day here by hopping on a plane to anywhere from Mammoth airport, where would you go?
JM: I would go to Japan, because apparently its dumping out there and no where else in the world has too much snow right now, so I’d definitely go straight to Japan.
